# Is the accommodation tax (Τέλος Παρεπιδημούντων) charged for stay nights or for the checkout date?

The accommodation tax and the Climate Resilience Fee (ΤΑΚΚ) are charged based on the actual nights of stay, not on the check-out date. The check-out day is a departure day, not a stay day, so it is not counted. For example, a reservation with check-out on 01/09 counts the night of 31/08 (that night falls within August), while a reservation with check-out on 01/08 does not count any August night because its last stay night was 31/07.

Note that some channels (e.g. Booking.com) may describe the ΤΑΚΚ as calculated on the check-out date and issue the related document with the check-out date — but the fee itself always corresponds to the nights actually stayed. If in doubt, confirm the calculation and document issuance with your accountant.
