Our smart inbox notification system ensures you always know when new guest messages arrive, while prioritizing critical communication for active bookings. We offer two notification methods:

  1. Push Notifications (Desktop & Mobile Web App): Receive instant notifications directly on your desktop or mobile device (within the web browser).

  2. Email Notifications: Get notified about new guest messages directly in your email inbox.

Understanding Urgent vs. Non-Urgent Notifications

To streamline your communication and ensure you respond to the most important messages promptly, we use a two level notifications system:

  • Urgent Notifications: The Top Priority

    • Urgent notifications are triggered when a message is directly related to a current, active booking.

    • We check for new urgent messages every 5 minutes to ensure you're alerted immediately. This allows you to address any guest inquiries or concerns during their stay promptly, improving their experience.

  • Normal/Non-Urgent Notifications: Important, But Not Time-Critical

    • Normal/Non-urgent notifications cover messages related to past bookings (for feedback or follow-up) or future bookings (pre-arrival questions or confirmations).

    • We monitor for new non-urgent messages every 15 minutes. You'll still be notified of these conversations, but without the same immediacy, allowing you to focus on current guests.

How to Enable and Use Push Notifications (Web App)

Enabling push notifications requires the following steps:

  1. Open your profile settings.

  2. Go to the Notifications section

  3. Enable Push for Urgent, Normal or both notification types.

  4. Grant Browser Permission: The first time you enable push notifications, your web browser will ask your permission to display notifications from the Hosthub web app. Click "Allow" to receive instant desktop or mobile alerts.

  5. Manage Browser Settings: You can always adjust notification permissions in your browser's settings if you change your mind.

  6. When push notifications are activated, you will receive web browser alerts for new messages containing the number of unread messages and a quick link to the inbox.

Push notifications for web apps like Hosthub provide the same experience as the ones that come from native apps (Android or iPhone). Web app push notifications are created by the web browser that you are using but they are displayed as all the other notifications. Also if you have installed the Hosthub web app in your device, then the app icon will also support notification budges.

How to Enable Email Notifications

  1. Open your profile settings.

  2. Go to the Notifications section

  3. Enable Email for Urgent, Normal or both notification types.

  4. After that you will be able to receive email notifications for new messages containing the number of unread messages and a quick link to the inbox.
