What is Preparation Time and How to Use It in Hosthub?

Preparation Time is a Hosthub setting that automatically blocks the night before and the night after every reservation, giving you extra time to prepare your rental between guests. When enabled, these blocks are pushed to all active channels connected to the property, helping you avoid back-to-back bookings.

In Hosthub, Preparation Days and Preparation time refer to the same setting. A value of "No preparation" means 0 preparation days.

How Preparation Time Works

  • It blocks the configured number of nights before and after each booking across all active channels.
  • It applies to both future and existing reservations once set.
  • Example: With Preparation Time set to 1 day, if a guest books 16/6–19/6, the nights of 15/6 and 20/6 will be blocked automatically.

How to Set Preparation Time

  1. Go to Setup → Rentals and select the property.
  2. Press Edit and open the Rental details.
  3. Locate the Preparation time field and set the number of days you want (e.g., 1 day), or set it to No preparation time (0 days).
  4. Press Save Changes.

Freeing a Specific Preparation Block

If you need to keep a specific gap open for a particular reservation, you can remove the preparation event for that booking:

  • Open the Calendar, click on the preparation event, and select Free dates.

Allowing Same-Day Turnover

By default, Airbnb treats the turnover day as unavailable, so if a guest checks out on 3/6, a new guest cannot check in the same day. To allow same-day turnover (a check-in on the same day another guest checks out):

  • Set Preparation Time to No preparation time (0 days) in the rental settings, or
  • Use Block arrival / Block departure for the specific date via Rate Management → Exceptions → Advanced Settings:
  1. Select the date (or date range) to apply.
  2. Set Block arrival and/or Block departure to Yes (for example, block arrivals on the check-out day if you want a same-day check-in).
  3. Press Preview, then Publish.

Also review your Advance Notice settings, as they affect how close to the check-in date a guest can book.
