How to Block Dates for Single or Multiple Properties in Hosthub Multicalendar

Hosthub’s Multicalendar allows property managers and agencies to block dates for one or several rentals in a single, streamlined action. This feature is designed to improve efficiency for users managing single properties or larger portfolios, making it easy to update availability and create holds on any number of calendars at once.

How Blocking Works

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Select Properties: In the Multicalendar view, drag and select a date period for one or more rentals.
  • Click the “Block Dates” action: A form will appear allowing you to enter block details (reason, notes, etc.).
  • Submit: After filling in the block data, submit the form. Hosthub will create a hold event for the selected rental(s):
  • For a single property, only that calendar is updated.
  • For multiple properties, identical hold events are created for all selected rentals.

What Happens Next?

Success: All selected rentals (single or multiple) will show the new block/hold in their calendars.

Validation Error: If any selected rental cannot be blocked (e.g., dates already booked), the block operation fails for all selected properties.

Actions Available for Selected Properties

When you select one or more rentals in the Multicalendar, you can perform all standard calendar actions as single or bulk operations:

  • Block dates
  • Change rates
  • Create booking

This means you can manage your rentals, without switching context or repeating actions for each rental.

Limitations

Atomicity: Bulk block actions are “all or nothing”—if one property cannot be blocked, the entire operation fails (no partial blocks).
No Bulk Reservations: Bulk booking creation for reservations is not supported—only holds/blocks.

Why a Date Range Can't Be Blocked ("You have reservations, you can't perform this action")

If you try to block a date range and get an error saying the action can't be completed, it means the selected range already contains existing reservations and/or blocked dates. This is not caused by the calendar being imported from Airbnb.

To resolve it, block only the dates within the range that are currently available. Dates that already contain a reservation or a block will remain as they are. For example, if 1–6 October is already blocked and there are bookings from 14 April onward, block only the remaining open dates in your target period.

Opening (Unblocking) Multiple Dates at Once

To reopen a period where you previously added blocks, you don't need to open dates one by one:

  1. Go to Calendar and select the rental and the date range you want to reopen.
  2. Choose Open dates to remove the existing blocks for that period.

Before reopening, check Rate Management to confirm that prices and exceptions are set correctly for that date range.
